What is beta-alanine?

Beta-alanine (ÿ-Alanine) is an organic chemical compound from the group of amino acids (alanine - endogenous amino acid, formed inside the body: occurring in two forms.

Beta-alanine is a strong precursor of carnosine - a dipeptide composed of two valuable amino acids: beta-alanine and L-histidine. Carnosine has the ability to neutralize lactic acid produced during exercise. Beta-alanine has buffering, chelating and antioxidant properties.
